Shari Kaufman is a Seattle artist working in the mediums of Ceramics and Hand Knit Wire Jewelry.

Shari discovered Ceramics many years ago and has been enamored ever since by the capacity of clay to respond to texture. She draws her inspiration from observing the natural world around her.
Her wall sculptures are composed of multiple ceramic pieces and she often incorporates additional materials such as wire and wood.

“I am inspired by the negative space surrounding a shape and am intrigued by texture. I choose finishing processes to high light the drama in the texture which for me means that the glaze is not the focal point of the sculpture.”

Shari enjoys working with individuals to create original ceramic wall sculptures to suit the environment of your home or office.

Her Hand Knit Wire Jewelry evolved from early attempts to incorporate wire mesh into ceramic sculptures. Shari discovered she enjoyed knitting with wire and began creating small wearable works. Bracelets are all one of a kind and can be found in the galleries which carry her work or special ordered.
